just one loss
All it took was one weekend and bam its over. National Championship hopes went out the window. A very motivated Georgia Tech Team out willed the 5th ranked Clemson Tigers to a 31-17 loss at Tech. Things could not have started worse for the tigers in the hostile environment that the Georgia Tech fan base had created. A packed stadium and very young Clemson team did not make well for the tigers. The stat that killed the tigers was the time of possession. Tech had the ball almost twice as long as the stellar Clemson offense and when that is a factor not much else needs to be said about who won. Keeping the football away from the tigers is that only way teams could beat them or even contend. The defense of the tigers looked even more out of place than normal. From blown assignments to poor tackling it is no wonder the yellow jackets were in offensive control of the game. Sustaining drives and slowly letting the clock run down lead to the demise and the first loss for the Clemson Tigers.
